About the Golden Service Awards

Founded in 1991, the Golden Service Awards have grown at great speed. In the beginning, less than 40 finalists, judges, sponsors and press were present at the first year’s lunch. By 2009 – the most recent Golden Service Awards – 500 guests were welcomed at the awards ceremony which is a clear indication of the respect and recognition the Awards have earned since their introduction.
Awards Criteria and Judging
The Golden Service Awards are open to all segments of the cleaning and support services industry. The next Golden Service Awards will be open for entry in February and March of 2011. Application forms will be available on this site during this time, as will additional information about how to submit a winning entry.
The first stage of judging will be carried out by an independent panel led by the British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc) and including representatives from Cleaning & Maintenance Magazine (C&M), The Cleaning and Support Services Association (CSSA) and The British Cleaning Council (BCC).
Innovation, staff management, training and client relationship are among the main criteria which will be assessed and it is not the size of a business that's important, but the quality of the service provided.
The second stage of judging - site visits - will be carried out by one of three BICSc appointed judges for the Golden Service Awards during June and July 2011.
