THE GOLD STANDARD:
WINNERS OF THE GOLDEN SERVICE AWARDS 2009

KIMBERLY-CLARK PROFESSIONAL* and the Cleaning and Support Services Association (CSSA) are delighted to announce the winners of the Golden Service Awards 2009.  After an extensive application process which saw 137 entries from across the UK and Ireland, 77 finalists were chosen for site visits by one of the three official judges.

“It quickly became clear who the 16 winners were,” said Paul Pearce, Judge Chair for the Golden Service Awards 2009.  “As judges, innovation, staff management, training and client relationship were among the main criteria which we assessed.  Each of the winners of the 15 categories and the overall winner’s site received top marks across the board for clearly providing the gold standard in all of these criteria,” Paul added.

Of particular interest was the winner of the KIMBERLY-CLARK PROFESSIONAL* Cleaner of the Year award, Teresa Orozco Loaiza from CI Business Services Ltd for her work at Takeda Global Research & Development Centre (Europe) Ltd.  After only a year and a half on site, Teresa’s outstanding record of excellent performance and achievements also played a significant part in helping CI Business Services Ltd to win the C&M Best Cleaned Premises – Offices above 15,000 sq.ft. award.

The winners were announced at the Lancaster London hotel during a glittering awards ceremony.  Over 500 professionals from small, medium and large contract cleaning firms and in-house teams as well as local authorities and hospitals were in attendance.  The event provided all with the chance to network at this social highlight of the cleaning industry sector.  Guests wined and dined and enjoyed a lively performance by comedian Jason Manford in the build up to the announcement of the winners which was by far the highlight of the day.

Also in attendance were the Gold sponsors of the Golden Service Awards 2009 JohnsonDiversey, Inc., a new Golden Service Awards sponsor Asset Skills, as well as the Ambassador sponsors who have supported the programme since the beginning, Cleaning & Maintenance (C&M) magazine, The British Cleaning Council (BCC), and The British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc).

The Awards, which provide a benchmark for quality and a means of identifying an organisation as a leader in the field, were once again THE social highlight of the cleaning industry.  Organisers are already hard at work reviewing the Golden Service Awards 2009 to further enhance and improve the programme for 2011.
